THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

REGISTRATION

You can register online, on the day or at the pre-registration points advertised. Registration opens at 4.00 AM on the day. Walkers under the age of 14 years must be accompanied by an adult. The 42.2KM Running / Cycling events are open to adults only (18 years and above).

FLAG OFF

42.2km Full Marathon Running will start at 5.00 AM
42.2km Cycling and 21.1km Cycling will start at 6.00 AM
21.1km Half Marathon Running will start at 6.15 PM
9km and 5km Walk will start at 7.00 AM

ROUTE

Starts and ends at the Green (on Kenyatta Drive).

RAIN OR SHINE

The Marathon event will be held come rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.

PROCEEDS

Proceeds of the 2017 Marathon will be used to build a multifunctional clinic at CCBRT, enabling quality health care to the disadvantaged.

MINIMUM PLEDGES

In order to participate in the Marathon/Walk, a minimum pledge of TSH 35,000 is required. Student’s minimum pledge is TSH 10,000.

Payment on the day of the Event

The time for the on the spot payment will be strictly between 4.00 AM to 6.30 AM.

CERTIFICATES

You can print your finisher’s certificate after 12.00 PM on 14th October 2017 from our website.

RACE DAY CHECKLIST

If you are RUNNING 42.2KM – Full Marathon
  1. The 42.2km Running event flags off at 5.00 AM – please be at the venue by 4.30 AM
  2. You should have a PINK BIB with a number. It should be worn at ALL times on the route. This is because the number will have a “chip” which will record your time. In case you remove the bib or loose it – you will be automatically disqualified for prize giving.
  3. The 42.2 km Runningevent is restricted to participants aged 18 and above.
  4. Mid-way through the race (past the Nyerere Bridge) you will be given a token which must be presented at the finish line to qualify for completion, a medal and registration of time.
  5. The total course length is 42.2KM and has been measured and duly approved by the Tanzanian Athletic Association.
If you are RUNNING 21.1KM – Half Marathon
  1. The 21.1KM Running event flags off at 6.15 AM – please be at the venue by 5.45 AM
  2. You should have a RED BIB WITH A NUMBER. It should be worn at ALL times on the route. This is because the number will have a “chip” which will record your time. In case you remove the bib or loose it – you will be automatically disqualified for prize giving.
  3. The total course length is 21.1km and have been measured and duly approved by the Tanzanian Athletic Association.
If you are CYCLING 42.2KM
  1. The 42.2km Cycling event flags off at 6.00 AM – please be at the venue by 5.30 AM.
  2. A helmet should be worn at ALL times.
  3. The 42.2 km Cycling event is restricted to participants aged 18 and above.
  4. Mid-way through the race (past the Nyerere Bridge) you will be given a token which must be presented at the finish line to qualify for completion, a medal and registration of time.
  5. You should have a PURPLE BIB with a number.  It must be worn at ALL times on the route. This is because the number will have a “chip” which will record your time. In case you remove the bib or loose it – you will be automatically disqualified for the prize giving.

If you are CYCLING 21.1km

  1. The Cycling Race flags off at 6.00 AM – please be at the venue by 5.30 AM.
  2. A helmet should be worn at ALL times
  3. You should have GREEN BIB with a number. It should be worn at ALL times on the route. This is because the number will have a “chip” which will record your time. In case you remove the bib or loose it – you will be automatically disqualified for the prize giving.
If you are WALKING 9KM or 5KM:
  1. The flag-off for the 9KM and 5KM is at 7.00 AM – please be at the venue at 6.30 AM
  2. If you are walking the 9KM – you should have a BLUE BIB with a number and if you are walking the 5KM- you should have an ORANGE BIB with a number.
GENERAL – FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS
  1. There is parking on the green (at owners risk) and we encourage everyone to car pool where possible
  2. If you would like to Register on the day – come atleast 30 minutes before the flag off. Registration will start at 4:00 AM.
  3. ON THE ROUTE:
    • Photographers and videographers will be taking your picture and capturing video footage throughout the marathon – so smile for the occasion
    • The routes will have water stalls and tents for your “rehydration” stops – there is a water stalls every three kilometers or less
    • The entire route is sign posted and guards from a security company and Tanzania Athletic Association are positioned at each turn to guide runners
    • Police and Security Guards on motorcycles will lead and follow all runners
    • In the event of any medical emergency please contact the guards on motorcycles. The ambulance will also follow runners.
    • Designated dustbins by “Spik and span” will be on the route.
  4. THE VENUE:
    • The venue will have a variety of food and refreshments stalls for sale – please bring some loose change! (Pepsi and water will be given at free of charge)
    • Portable Toilets will be located at the venue
    • Keep your belongings safe
  5. Prize giving will be held after the marathon at the Venue
  6. Please keep all your bib numbers as they will be used for RAFFLES
  7. If you have any questions at the Marathon – please look for people with Reflector Jackets with RDM 2017 written on the jackets.
