THINGS YOU SHOULD KNOW

REGISTRATION

You can register online, on the day or at the pre-registration points advertised. Registration opens at 4.30am on the day. Under 14 years of age walker must be accompanied by an adult.

FLAG OFF

21.1KM will start at 6.15am
Cycling Race will start at 6.30am
9KM and 5KM will start at 7.00am

ROUTE

Starts and ends at the Green (on Kenyatta Drive).

RAIN OR SHINE

The Marathon event will be held come rain or shine, so please dress for the weather.

PROCEEDS

Proceeds of the 2016 Marathon will be used to build a state of the art Multifunctional Rotary hospital.

MINIMUM PLEDGES

In order to participate in the Marathon/Walk, a minimum pledge of TSH 30,000 in pledges is required. Students minimum pledge TSH 10,000.

COLLECT YOUR PLEDGES TODAY

Ask your friends, family, neighbors, colleagues, and classmates to sponsor you and record their amounts on this pledge form.

MAKE YOUR PAYMENT

Money collected for the Marathon/Walk can be deposited at any of the nearest Bank M (T) Limited branches :

Cheque payments are accepted. The deposit pay-in-slip must indicate the name of the person stated on the pledge form, the registration number as indicated on the pledge form.

Payment on the day of the Event

The time for the on the spot payment will be strictly between 4.00am to 6.30am.

CERTIFICATES

You can print your finishers certificate after 12.00pm on 14th October 2016 from our website.

RACE DAY CHECKLIST

If you are running the 21.1KM
  1. The 21.1KM flags off at 6.15am – please be at the venue by 5.45am
  2. You should have a RED BIB NUMBER
    The RED Bib number should be worn at ALL times on the route. This is because the number will have a “chip” which will record your time. In case you remove the bib or loose it – you will be automatically disqualified for prize giving.
  3. The total course length is 21.1km and have been measured and duly approved by the Tanzanian Athletic Association.
If you are cycling the 42KM:
  1. The Cycling Race flags off at 6.30am – please be at the venue by 6.00am.
  2. A helmet should be worn at ALL times
  3. You should have a GREEN BIB NUMBER
    The GREEN Bib number should be worn at ALL times on the route. This is because the number will have a “chip” which will record your time. In case you remove the bib or loose it – you will be automatically disqualified for the prize giving.
If you are walking the 9KM or 5KM:
  1. The flag offs for the 9KM and 5KM is at 7.00am – please be at the venue at 6.30am
  2. If you are walking the 9KM – you should have a BLUE BIB NUMBER and if you are walking the 5KM- you should have a ORANGE BIB NUMBER.
GENERAL – FOR ALL PARTICIPANTS
  1. There is parking on the green (at owners risk) and we encourage everyone to car pool where possible
  2. If you would like to Register on the day – come atleast 30 minutes before the flag off
  3. ON THE ROUTE:
    • Photographers and videographers will be taking your picture and capturing video footage throughout the marathon – so smile for the occasion
    • The routes will have water stalls and tents for your “rehydration” stops – there is a water stalls every three kilometers or less
    • The entire route is sign posted and guards from a security company and Tanzania Athletic Association are positioned at each turn to guide runners
    • Police and Security Guards on motorcycles will lead and follow all runners
    • In the event of any medical emergency please contact the guards on motorcycles. The ambulance will also follow runners.
    • Designated dustbins by “Spik and span” will be on the route
  4. THE VENUE:
    • The venue will have a variety of food and refreshments stalls for sale – please bring some loose change! (Pepsi and water will be given at free of charge)
    • Portable Toilets will be located at the venue
    • Keep your belongings safe
  5. Prize giving will be held after the marathon at the Venue
  6. Please keep all your bib numbers as they will be used for RAFFLES
  7. If you have any questions at the Marathon – please look for People with Waist Coat Jackets on!
